Mechanical Testing

Static and fatigue testing at room and elevated temperatures are conducted in the mechanical testing laboratory. Our service does not include only testing results but also comparison to standard specifications and interpretations as well as technical consultancy. We are specialized in performing testing of small specimens from thin cast components.

ACCREDITED TESTING PROCEDURES

Static testing:

•    Tensile test at room temperature on round or flat specimens (EN ISO 6892-1), test method A (strain-rate-controlled) or B (stress-rate-controlled)
•    Tensile test at elevated temperature up to 900°C (EN ISO 6892-2)
•    Compression test (DIN 50 106) at room temperature and elevated
temperature
•    Penetration wedge test (VDG Merkblatt P340) on grey cast iron GJL

Fatigue testing:

•    Rotating bending fatigue test (DIN 50 113) at room temperature and elevated
temperature
•    Uniaxial fatigue test (DIN 50 100) at room temperature and elevated temperature

Hardness testings:

•    Brinell (ON EN ISO 6506-1)
•    Vickers (ON EN ISO 6507-1)
•    Rockwell (ON EN ISO 6508-1)


SPECIAL TESTING PROCEDURES:

•    Hysteresis testing uniaxial under tension / compression load up to 1000 cycles, stress- or strain-controlled
•    High resolution tensile or compression test using strain gages for elongation measurement
•    Processing, testing and evaluation of templugs for the indirect measurement of temperature on engine parts



EQUIPMENT

•    Universal testing machine for tensile-, compression-, bending- or component tests, max. load 250 kN at room temperature
•    Universal testing machine for tensile tests, max. load 100 kN at elevated temperature up to 900 °C or with climate chamber at temperatures between -80°C und 250°C.
•    Universal testing machine for tensile- or compression tests, max. load 50 kN at elevated temperature up to 750 °C using a laser extensometer for non-contact measurement of strain or compression on small test specimens
•    High frequency resonance fatigue testing machines (20 kN, 30 kN and 100 kN) with equipment for testing at elevated temperatures up to 900°C
•    Rotating bending fatigue testing machines 30 Nm with equipment for testing at elevated temperatures up to 500°C
•    Hardness testing machines for Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell methods
